More about your teacher

I set up my free Adventures in Paint facebook community in July 2020 to offer artistic connection and inspiration during the Covid crisis. The group is all about playfulness and experimentation with paint.

The group kept growing, and I started to see more and more of what people wanted - to understand the principles of successful painting and to paint expressively with delight and confidence. My passion to give more also grew and grew, so I developed Adventurous Painters for anyone wanting to come with me on the next step of the journey!

Adventurous Painters builds on Adventures in Paint, offering a lot more. More input, more structure, more teaching, more of me.

Having cracked my own painting success, as well as having taught art, trained art teachers and worked as a coach and therapist, I have a lot of skills and insights to bring you. You can read more about my background in About Me.

Is Adventurous Painters for me?

This group is for you if:

  • you want to build a happy working relationship with your art; facing fears, learning how to get unstuck, developing creative resilience and forming ‘the art of being an artist’,

  • you’re an enthusiastic, emerging or practising artist with some level of painting experience,

  • you’re happy to work in acrylics and mixed media,

  • you’re interested primarily in abstract or semi-abstract expressive painting,

  • you’d like to get confident in new skills and techniques through structured, experimental painting projects, teaching input and personalised feedback,

  • you’re hungry to understand more about the principles of making successful art and about working with colour, tone (value), mark-making, layers, motifs and emotion,

  • you like to learn at a manageable pace, integrating art sustainably into your life.

I’ve been really enjoying the tasks on Adventures in Paint and have found the assignments very helpful in moving my painting forward. The tasks are very well written and researched and appeal to both the experienced and beginner artist. Each task is different, yet there is a continuity as they contribute holistically to our artistic development. I’m looking forward to learning more from Fiona.
